“The Process Of Progress”

Emily is a contemporary painter living in Albuquerque. She is currently obsessed with chairs and finds them to be an evocative metaphor for the human experience. Much of her inspiration comes from personal reflections, her interest in psychology, human relationships and a deep desire for self-knowledge. Emily hopes that her work allows viewers to experience a peaceful, centered sense of self and a broader impression of connection through the universal shared experience of being human.

"No. 63"

Alf is an Albuquerque-based artist. He received his MFA in sculpture from the University of Kansas in 2000 and transplanted to the Southwest a few years later. Recent efforts to rethink what an art object is led to him slopping house paint on canvas drop cloths. These explorations steered his focus to large, brightly colored paintings that showcase soft, rounded shapes floating over patterns that mimic clouds. Randomness decides which color variations go where. Blending graphic design and graffiti into a safe space for curiosity to bloom. In a world that can often be dark, his paintings give you hope and a space to contemplate joy.

Knives’ work continuously focuses on prioritizing form, opposing colors and saturation over the objects themselves to make a piece completely new, often reinterpreting the interaction between man-made structures and nature.

Michelle works mixed media, often using watercolor, ink, acrylic, and collage elements. She embraces a fluid style that often includes typographic elements, including words that serve as entry points to her personal thoughts. She draws inspiration from her work as an art director designing publications, leading her to include text in unexpected ways. Originally from the East Coast, she now calls New Mexico home. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from New Jersey City University.
